OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(x)= -4x+2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what's the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sketch a graph of y=f(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that function is a line.... find two points on the line y=-4x+2 and connect them...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know that but I forogt how to solve them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay so how would I find ordered pairs for both numbers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so then would it look like this f(x)= -4(-3)+2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So if I get answer what, how would it look like for instance, -4(-3)+2=14 what would be the ordered pair? (?,14)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay, now I understand, thank you again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay once I figure out all the functions, how do I find out which one to graph? or do I graph all of them?

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

There is only one function f.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, how would I graph this?

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

f(x)= -4x+2 this form of equation is called the y-intercept form, also more generally written as y=mx+b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right I know about the y=mx+b but I forgot how to solve it

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Recall m is the slope and b is the y-intercept, that is the point where the line crosses the y axis at 0,2 for y=-4x+2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right, so then the next one would be (4,4)?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

start at (0,2) make a dot, go down 4 and to the right 1 and make another dot. Rice and repeat.

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

rinse*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That was kind of rude nincompoop

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

f(x)= -4x+2 the value of m is -4 and that will give you another point on the line for your graph.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1353635897512:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it look like the graph I drew?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay, I tend to get really confused on these ones

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Do you understand the definition of m?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now I understand the lines, wow nincompoop you have really made me understand a lot more, Thank you. Now I have another question I'm going to submit

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, I will keep that in mind.
