What is the slope of the line through the points (5, 2) and (5, -3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Describe the line through these points

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You should always start with the slope formula,\[m=\frac{ y2-y1 }{ x2-x1 }\] however there are two situations where it will give you weird answers. If slope comes out as 0, then it's a horizontal line. If slope comes out as undefined (divide by zero) then it's a vertical line.

im confused

Did you try substituting the values of the points into the formula? What do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Say (5,2) is point 1 Say (5,-3) is point 2 The formula will now be: \[m=\frac{ -3-2 }{5-5 }=\frac{ -5 }{ 0 }\] Division by 0 is undefined. So this means, the line that goes through those points is vertical. Question?
