When solving for unknowns does the brackets have anything to do with the actual equation? for example: 4(x2-x)-6(x2+x) = -2(x+3)-5(x+3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Bracket tells you to multiply everything inside with the thing outside

so you would multiply after you find what x is?

Getting rid of the brackets is part of the problem of solving for x. On the right hand side, you can factor out x+3. (Ignore the question, solve for x, and you would have a better understanding.)

alright thanks
