GEOMETRY! FIND THE VALUE OF X!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if angle stu is 20 and so 4x+20=180

OpenStudy (ammarah):

I thought STR was 20 and SRT b

OpenStudy (ammarah):

|dw:1354246558283:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there congruent so srt is also 20 but u need x so just solve for x with the equation of 4x+20=180 because a lines angle is 180 degrees

OpenStudy (ammarah):

OpenStudy (ammarah):

ohhhh!!! I get it!

OpenStudy (ammarah):

thanks!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah :)

OpenStudy (ammarah):

i need help on another one please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which problem

OpenStudy (ammarah):

|dw:1354246718641:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so to find the total angle added up in a pentagon is 180 * (n-2) and n is the number of sides. so the pentagon interior angles should add up to 540, so the missing angle is 107

OpenStudy (ammarah):

why is it n-2 times? what is that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats how you find the total degrees in a polygon, so like squares add up to 360 and triangles add up to 180

OpenStudy (ammarah):

but the answer in my book is 73

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but you still have to subtract 180 by 107 to get 73 beacuse thats the inside angle you want the outside angle

OpenStudy (ammarah):

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha you get the hang of it once youve done it a couple times

OpenStudy (ammarah):

yeah im still getting confused on like when to equal the two congruent triangles and when to set them to 180..can you explain that to me? like with diagrams....i have a benchmark tomorrow and i need to know...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do youmean by equaling 2 congruent triangles? if they want a angle outside of the shape you have to subtract 180 because usually the angle you fins is the inside angle, but you want the angle that is on the other side of the line. (and lines are 180 degrees like right angles are 90 and circles are 360

OpenStudy (ammarah):

ok so ill show you an example
