Please help The graph of the derivative, f '(x), is given, where a= 8. Determine the x-coordinates of all points of inflection of f(x), if any. (Assume that f(x) is defined and continuous everywhere in [−24, 24].) I added a screen shot of the graph. x = ?? ( smaller value) x= ?? ( larger value)
why is x=16 an inflection point?
you're correct in that x=-8 is an inflection point, but the other one you entered is not right...
if x=-8 correct, why does it state in my hwk that its not
because x=-8 is actually the larger one...
ah i see, so how would i find the smaller value?
since the graph is of the derivative, the point of inflection of the function occurs at max/mins of the derivative.
would it be 8?
no... look a the picture of the derivative... x=-8 is a local min so x=-8 is an inflection point... do you see another local max or local min on the derivative?
-16? or -24?
-16 actually
i got it, thanks for the help
@dpaInc can you help me with another one like this, but its easier
sure.... post it as a new question....
