Book/study recomendations? I just missed calculus Accuplacer prereq by two questions. I really don't think taking a precalc or college algebra + trig would be worth the time or money, as I already have a pretty solid understanding of calculus. Can anyone recommend a site or book for practice problems in trig/college algebra/pre-calc that will help me get over this bump?
I should mention, I've spent considerable time on Khan Academy and love it. It wasn't quite enough in some places, and I was very over prepared in others.
Honestly, I used to think exactly like you do! However, after I'm taking Science courses and more more Calculus level, not anymore :( Unless you don't plan to take Engineer or Scientific major, then there's no need to study deeply into Math. Anyway I'd suggest Larson's Study Guide for beginner :)
If you feel master it, then try Michael Sullivan books!
what is your major? It really depends on your major
I'm on the physics pre-professional track. Basically a ramp-up towards graduate work, though I'll cross that bridge when/if I get to it. :)
I should mention that I've been spending a considerable amount of time working through upper division physics syllabi and teaching myself the concepts and math as I need them. Here's the course I've been studying: http://www.physics.utah.edu/~woolf/3210_deford.html
If so, try the Michael Sullivan Algebra and Trig, Precal, see if you're ready to jump through most of problem solving parts. You can request your school for taking AP exams :)
Ouch, pricey. :) For placement, I've been out of school for a pretty long time now, so I'm actually stuck with Clep or Accuplacer.
