Solve 8x2 + 7x - 15 = - 7. Enter your answers as decimals rounded to two places. in order from least to greatest.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

an*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got it straight from my homework i just looked again it is the same

OpenStudy (sanchez9457):

Is that 8 times 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think it is 7x minus 15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think it is 8 times 2 plus 7x minus 15 = negative 7.

OpenStudy (sanchez9457):

Multiply out 8 * 2 and add it to -15

OpenStudy (sanchez9457):

then subtraact that new value to the -7 and divide by 7 and that should give you your x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait so 8*2 is 16 then adding it to -15 would be 1 right then you subtract that from -7 would be 8 and dividing it would 1.14 right? it says i have to have two decimals though so what do i do after that?

OpenStudy (sanchez9457):

it would be -8 not 8. so it should give you -1.14 if you did your calculuations correctly. 1.14 is two decimal places. you have the tenths and the hundredths places.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no like 1.14 as one answer than there should be another answer for it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think this is supposed to be a quadratic and you're going to want to use the quadratic formula...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first write it in the form ax^2 +bx +c =0 then plug the values of a b and c into the quad. formula

OpenStudy (sanchez9457):

I don't quite understand this then. So that is not a multiplication like you said it's 8x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is from the lessons linear and quadratic functions

OpenStudy (sanchez9457):

Oh so then that is not 8 times 2 , it's 8x^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im so confused guys

OpenStudy (sanchez9457):

Forgetting that little carrot is a huge thing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it didnt have the carrot thingy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

re-write it in the form ax^2 +bx +c =0 plug the values of a b and c into the quad. formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where do i find the a b c thing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a=8 b =7 c=...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or are you talking about the quadratic formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no clue honestly i am so confused right now

OpenStudy (sanchez9457):

@Algebraic! : i'm not sure it's a quadratic equation sine he just said there was nothing squared. so the qudratic formula would render usless he made a mistake in copying the problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's in your book or everywhere on the internet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im a girl first and second the problem is right in front of me it is right. and it is on my homework online

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got it guys thanks

OpenStudy (sanchez9457):

Sorry about that!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no its fine thank you for trying

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"im a girl first " so?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

he kept calling me a dude
