Jacqueline drove 72 km on 6 L of gasoline. Which of the following equations can be used to find how far she can travel on a full tank of 50 L?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey hun @yummydum

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its ...not...hun... : ) \[\text{x=liters of gasoline}\]\[{6\over72}={50\over x}\] now find x

OpenStudy (ashleyisakitty):

6/72 = 50/x now find x

OpenStudy (ashleyisakitty):

oh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh sorry lol @yummydum ur a guy sorry : ) @Ashleyisakitty thanks for helpin anyway lol you tried and guys fan me!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you should cross multiply:\[{5\over72}={50\over x}~~~~~\implies~~~~~{6x=72\times50}\]now just solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

72X50=3600 THEN DIVIDE? 6/3600 AND THAT EQUALS 600? RIGHT :P i hatee math lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wha??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm idk i multiplyed 72 and 50? yikes did i do it wrong :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

BREJA..FOCUZZ O_O \[6x=72\times50\]solve for x:\[6x=3600\]\[x={{\cancel{3600}^{600}}\over{\cancel6}^1}\]\[x=600\]you have to do 3600/6 not 6/3600

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes 600 is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay i thought i got it wrong lol thank you sooo much for taking time out to solve and type this out for me yummy i appreciate this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem
