OpenStudy (livya15):

To live a confined life is better than no life at all. People in “Supermax” prisons are restrained for 23-hours a day in their rooms, but they still get to eat and breathe. While on the other hand, when a human dies there is no living after that. Therefore, life imprisonment is a much better option, because the death penalty costs a lot more in many different ways, it is immoral to execute human beings, and the accused can still live their lives. For instance, when the death penalty is issued, some people say that it is going against the order of nature, therefore causing many problems. The individual that has been charged of the crime could be innocent, but still die from the wrongdoing of someone else. Not only is a life terminated, but statistics state that the average death penalty cost is more than to keep a criminal in prison for life. Also, when the “guilty” is killed, another family would be suffering the loss of someone that they love. Then, in those circumstances not only is the criminal being punished, but the family and loved ones are being penalized too. Besides the fact that the death penalty has is high cost, if those found guilty are put into prison, they still get to live their lives. If the reader thinks about it, life imprisonment is like a very long time-out. While they are sentenced, the guilty can think about what they did and why it is wrong. The guilty can get medical help if they have psychological problems, and possibly fix what is wrong with them. Also, some prisons offer activities, such as a sports teams, community service, and art. In addition to learning those skills, they will have plenty of time to read. For example, in the short story “The Bet,” the lawyer has so much time, he learned about languages, history, and science. After his captivity, he had knowledge of so many things, that he believed that money wasn’t everything. On the other hand, if the criminal is executed, then the family of the victim can feel better. They will feel safer as they go through their lives. Also, they won’t have to worry about the criminal breaking out of prison and coming after them. In fact, with the felon out of their lives, they can feel closure that the person that harmed their loved one got what they deserved. And, with the death penalty, when the criminal dies, they don’t usually feel pain because they are put to sleep or they are given a quick death. While in prison the person will die slowly, bit by bit. In spite of that disagreement, it is unethical to kill. In my religion, I am taught that to kill someone is wrong no matter what they did. For example, one of the Catholic Church’s Ten Commandments says “You Shall Not Kill.” Also, from an early age, kids always hear the saying “Two wrongs don’t make a right,” even if the person found guilty did something terribly wrong, doesn’t make it right to kill them. If they are being charged for murder, it doesn’t make sense that they would be murdered as well. Then it would go in a circle, because the executioner of the murderer can be seen as equally guilty as the accused man after he kills the guilty one. Another point is that to be put to death is the easy way out for the blamed. They don’t have to face the hardships of being in prison, and live the rest of their days with a remorseful conscience. In conclusion, many people argue that the death penalty is a better choice than life imprisonment. I, on the other hand say that to live a life in prison is better than to have no life at all. Life imprisonment is a more moral option, because the death penalty costs a lot more in many different ways, the accused can still live their lives, and it is wrong to kill a human.

For your first paragraph, you should of course indent, but instead of making two sentences it would be easier said & read if you say "People that are in “ Super-max” prisons are restrained for twenty-three hours a day in their rooms; but they still get to eat and breathe. Which is better than receiving the death penalty because when a human dies there is no life, no eating or breathing. For instance, when the death penalty is issued, some people say that it is going against the order of nature, which causes conflicts and even protests against the ruling. The individual that has been charged of the crime could be innocent, but still be killed due to the wrongdoing of someone else because they are sentenced with the death penalty. Not only is a life terminated, but statistics state that the average death penalty cost is more than to keep a criminal in prison for life. Also, when the “guilty” is killed, another family would be suffering the loss of someone that they love. Then, in those circumstances not only is the criminal being punished, but the family and loved ones are being penalized too, while if they were sentenced to prison for life the family would still be able to visit. Besides the fact that the death penalty has a high cost, if those found guilty are put into prison, they still get to live their lives. If you think about it, life imprisonment is like a very long time-out. While they are sentenced, the guilty can think about what they did and why it is wrong. The guilty can get medical help if they have psychological problems, and possibly correct what is wrong with them. Some prisons offer activities, such as a sports teams, community service, and art. In addition to learning those skills, they will have plenty of time to read. For example, in the short story “The Bet,” the lawyer has so much time, he learned about languages, history, and science. After his captivity, he had knowledge of so many things, that he realized that money wasn't everything. And for your last paragraph; there should be a comma after "on the other hand" Life imprisonment is a more moral option, not only because the death penalty costs much more, but also because the accused can still live their lives, and it is wrong to kill a human-being. Sorry I just thought it was easier to copy and edit it, they are just suggestions doesn't mean you have to use them (: I'm in 11th grade so I figured I would help out a little bit.
