if you had a graph of an absolute value function, f(x)=-|x-3|+1, what would be the increasing and decreasing intervals?
For all absolute value functions: y=a|x-h|+k Here your a=-1, h=3, k=1. The a being negative means it first goes up then goes down (like a mountain). (h,k) gives you the vertex of the function. So it increases until h (up the mountain) and decreases after h (down the mountain)
so the center would be (3, 1) and the inc interval would be (neg infinity, 3) and dec interval would be (3, infinity) ?
also, i have to find the maximum and minimum, if you could please help me please? :)
Yes the intervals are perfect! Draw the graph if you want, it should be pretty obvious!
(hint: there isn't necessarily a max and/or min)
so the max is 3,1 and there isnt really a min is there?
Or would the minimum be written as (neg infinity, infinity)?
