looking for help on my argumentative essay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im currently writing an argumentative essay on if violent video games cause behavior problems or not. right now im stuck trying to find opposing views, and need some help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is the math section :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ik but no one answers anything in any other section

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What are you wanting to say in your essay.... what do you have so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. Choose a controversial topic, an issue on which you can take a position and argue that position. If a topic or issue does not have more than one side to consider, then you cannot argue it. EXAMPLE: Child abuse is wrong is not arguable. No sane person believes differently. 2. Once you have a controversial topic, then you take a Position (also known as claim or warrant) your hypothesis. 3. Reasons for position 4. Anticipating Reader concerns and questions 5. Answering reader concerns and questions 6. Acknowledging opposing views, positions and arguments 7. Accommodating valid opposition points 8. Refuting remaining opposition points 9. Conclusion—reminding reader of position and reasons for your convincing argument. Where your hypothesis becomes your thesis. have 1,2,4, and 5

and am going to throw #3 in there right now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok so you need help with 6,7,8, and 9?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok... so do you oppose the fact that violent video games cause behavior issues?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i dont think that they cause behavior issues

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok... one moment

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well here's an article on how violent video games affect behavior: http://www.foxnews.com/health/2012/06/20/watching-violence-makes-for-angry-kids-study-shows/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like i have articles, but dont know what to put for apposing views

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, what do you need specifically?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

finding opposing views

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and stuff like that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i cant be more specific

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok... so do you mean opposing views of certain people? I'm still not quite sure what you mean....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well here are my readers concerns and questions Some of the key things we need to look at are violent video games affecting the behavior of children? Who is to blame for this behavior, the video game makers, or the parents? Should violent video games be banned, or made less accessible? Is the rating system for video games adequate? Is there a justified reason to stop making violent video games? Has there been an increase in violence since video games became popular? Do video games make people unsocial? and i am also confused on what is meant by opposing views

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well I think those questions are good.... but I really am confused on the opposing views. Opposing mean against (which I'm sure you knew) so I'm guessing that your teacher wants you to talk about people who think that the video games influence violent behavior.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The people/articles that are against your view on the topic...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but thats basically what i did by answering those questions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So for number six I'd mention the articles that are against your view and elaborate on them, for seven I'd talk about the reasons why they cause behavioral issues(again, against your view), for number eight you should argue why you're right, and nine reword your intro.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's the best thing I could really think of.... Did that help a little?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya i guess il talk to my teacher a little more on friday but thanks alot for the help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep.... sorry..... good luck!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks
