Alright so a question from my statics class. I understand how to do this question using the math but im wondering if there is a method for accurately finding the answer.

I know that in 2d you can accurately predict wich will break first by comparing angles but i am unsure about a method for 3d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

visually i would assume it would have been AC because it has the longest hypotenuse to the Force.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it wont be that simple because the other ropes will decrease the tension on AC.

you're looking for a way to predict which rope will break first without "assuming" one breaks first and checking the result?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya so just a way so if i look at it, know which it should be, then show that that is the case without having to say "well i randomly picked this one and it wouldn't break. then i randomly picked this one and it ended up leading to the answer."

for example, In 2d a problem would look like: |dw:1354802945550:dw|
