I have no idea what do to! Can you please help me??? ASAP, if possible! What impact does the subtraction sign have in this problem: (3x^2 + 2x + 5) - (2x^2 + x +3) Explain in complete sentences and simplify the problem (complete in subtraction).

OpenStudy (awy):

When you distribute the negative into (2x^2 + x +3) you get -2x^2-x-3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So is that the answer?

OpenStudy (awy):

not quite yet, almost done.

OpenStudy (awy):

answer should be (x^2-x-2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, but how did you get that?

OpenStudy (awy):

3x^2+2x+5-2x^2-x-3 take out like terms and answer is (x^2-x-2)

OpenStudy (awy):

because when you distribute the negative which i posted earlier, you essentially open the brackts right? so, then you can take out the like terms.

Ohh, I think I get it now...Thanks so much!
