Which of the following is the slope between the two points (–3, 1) and (3, –6)? A 6 over 7 B –6 over 7 C 7 over 6 D –7 over 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To find slope, the numerator is the difference in y values, and the denominator is the difference in x values. slope = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1) and here, your two points are (-3, 1) and (3, -6), so x1 = -3, y1 = 1 and x2 = 3, y2 = -6

So using those two points, slope = (-6 - 1) / (3 - (-3) )

@JakeV8 so D, is the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's how it looks to me. Does it make sense? You just subtract the y's on top, and divide by the difference in x's on bottom. Just be careful with signs... easy to make an error when you are subtracting negative values.

@JakeV8 yes it does thanks for your help :)

Glad to help :)
