HELP!? PLEASE ♥ You must create a lesson that teaches another student how to solve the following inequality: –x + 3 > 7. Your main mission for this activity is to provide a detailed answer to the question below. Why must you flip the inequality symbol when you divide by a negative number? You know that if the symbol is not flipped you will end up with a false statement, but why is that so?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[-x+3-3>7-3\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-x>4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(-x>4) * -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x<-4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SO HOW WOULD YOU EXPLAIN THIS TO SOME ONE ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how u want to explain?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I MUST DO IT LIKE IM TEACHING ANOTHER STUDENT THE STEPS

OpenStudy (kainui):

First off, try understanding the concept and from there you should be able to just explain what you know.

COULD YOU WORK THE PROBLEM OUT FOR ME BECAUSE I REALLY DONT UNDERSTAND IT IM NOT BEING LAZY IM JUST A DUMB retriceAT MATH

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have to reverse the sense of inequality because what you're doing is taking the opposite of both sides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So for example: 8>7 divide each side by -1 -8>-7 this is no longer true.... now -7 is greater than -8 so you have to switch the signs -8<-7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so do the same thing with -x+3>7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So: add subtract 3 from each side -x>4 divide each by -1 x<4 because -x is no longer greater than 4
