2x+1/3 -2 = -7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Please walk me through this if you can.

hero (hero):

You'll have to write it out using the drawing button first.

hero (hero):

Because it can be interpreted two ways: \[2x + \frac{1}{3} - 2 = -7\] or \[\frac{2x+1}{3} - 2 = -7\] In order to avoid ambiguity, most people use parentheses: ((2x+1)/3) - 2 = -7

hero (hero):

@HorseCrazyGirlForever, say something!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry! It is the second picture.

OpenStudy (arhin):

x=-8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well I kind of needed someone to explain the whole problem to me because I am trying to prep for my SAT test, but thank you for the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hero, would you be able to explain it to me?

hero (hero):

All you have to do is perform algebraic manipulation

hero (hero):

1. Add 2 to both sides 2. Multiply both sides by 3 3. Subtract 1 from both sides 4. Divide both sides by 2
