simplify 3/-4i

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well if you want to get rid of the i just square both top and bottom 3^2 -4^2 i^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you should come up with 9/16(-1) = 9/-16 = - 9/16 , simplify and thats your answer

hmmm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is asking you to divide, not square multiply top and bottom by \(i\) get \[\frac{3}{-4i}=\frac{3}{-4i}\times \frac{i}{i}=\frac{3i}{-4i^2}=\frac{3i}{(-4)(-1)}=\frac{3i}{4}\]
