Which of the following represents the area of a rectangle whose length is 3x - 7 and whose length is x + 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3x2 - 14 3x2 + x - 14 3x2 - x - 14 3x2 + 14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Area = L * W so multiply (3x-7)*(x+2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does that help? Im assuming you meant one of those to be width

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait so which one is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so foil out (3x-7)*(x+2) do you know how to do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no this is an assignment that i have to do to see if I know any of the material im going to learn in this unit. Ive never come across this stuff before.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it D?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the area of any rectangle is the height times the width. those terms you have represent the height and the width of the triangle so (3x-7)*(x+2)=(3x^2-7x+6x-14) 3x^2-x-14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhhh. i kinda see what you did there. thankyou!
