Patrick Henry is rallying the troops so to speak. He is telling them the war is already upon them. Their compatriots are fighting against the British already. You cannot be a gentleman, want freedom, but not be willing to take up arms and fight for it. He refuses to be enslaved by the British government. He is willing to do whatever it takes to gain independence, and he is hoping more will agree with him; regardless, he plan to fight the good fight.
