absoulte value = () anyway lol we had to make up a problem so i put (x+2) > 2 and then solved x+2>2 and got x>0 and x+2>-2 and got x>-4 but it was marked wrong? did i forget to flip a sign?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

use || to mean absolute value so |x+2| means "the absolute value of x+2"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whoops forgot about those

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

|x+2| > 2 breaks up into x+2 > 2 or x+2 < -2

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

solve each for x to get your answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok thanks, i forgot to flip the sign

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910 would it be and or or?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

or or ? idk what you mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

their can be 2 answers x>0 and x<-4 or x>0 or x<-4 @jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

it's "or" because x can't be both less than -4 and greater than 0 at the same time

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so it's x>0 or x<-4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910 thanks much

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
