Does holes really move or is it due to movement of electrons?
Always remember holes are made when bounded electrons break their bonds. means electrons in the valance band creates holes , not the electrons present in conduction band because they are already free ( are not part of any bond). The hole movement concept is realized in literature to accurately model and define semiconductor physics. as in reality only electrons move .
answer is in your question. VKP is right. let me present this in a mathematical way. if you have a electron at (x,y) coordinate, and if it is moved to (x+5, y+5), you will have a free space at (x,y)... this is a hole. so, when an electron moves from its current coordinates there will be a hole. there is no such thing like hole movement.
