okay, my teacher said I made a mistake here and I can't imagine what it is. Question: A car travels at 60 mi/h. The function f(x) = 60x gives the distance the car travels in x hours. What is the range of this function? My Answer: Since we don't get values we choose our own, but we can't choose negative because a car can't travel negative distance. So we can use 0, 1, 2, 3 for our values. We plug them into the function now. 60(0) = 0, 60(1) = 60, 60(2)=120, 60(3)=180. So the range is {0, 60, 120, 180....}
right
the function f(x)=60x is not undefined at, for example, x= 1/2 hour (and you get a good answer, 30 miles), so I don't think you should arbitrarily confine the range to integer hours. I would say the range is y≥0
That makes sense. Thanks.
