Write an equation for an x-intercept of 6 and a y-intercept of 3

OpenStudy (mathhelp346):

\[2x+4y=12\]

How did you get that?

I pretty much did guess and check. Standard form is ax+by=c. I thought of a number that would fit both 6 AND 3. There are plenty, but I chose 12. I then picked the numbers I would divide 12 by to get 6 and 3, which would be 2 and 4.
