y = 3x – 1
2.) –4x + 3y = –12

2x - 3y = 12 ----> equation(2)


multiply equation(1) by -2 and equation (2) by 3

-6x - 4y = -20
6x - 9y = 36

-13y = 16

y = -16/13

Substitute y = -16/13 into equation(1) or equation(2) to solve for x,

3x + 2y = 10

3x + 2(-16/13) = 10

3x - 32/13 = 10

39x - 32 = 130

39x = 162

x= 162/39 = 54/13
