u subsitution

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

\[\int\limits_{}^{}\frac{ 40 dx }{ x^2+25 }\]

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

@zepdrix

zepdrix (zepdrix):

No U-sub for this one I'm afraid :( Have to do a trig-sub.

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

i got \[\frac{ -40 }{ x+5 }+c\]

zepdrix (zepdrix):

The integral will give you an answer which involves arctangent. You have to use a Trig-Sub to solve it because of the square in the bottom. If there was an X in the top somewhere, we could do a U-sub.

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Is it suppose to be 40x dx on top?

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

nope

zepdrix (zepdrix):

darn :c
