can some one check over my answer to Think about a kayaking race, a round trip airplane flight, a shopper on an escalator, or a swimming competition. Choose an activity where a rational expression can represent the total or difference of time. For example, what is the time to go round trip on a hot air balloon ride? Use full sentences to describe the real world situation. Write the addition or subtraction rational expression to represent your situation. It took a marathon runner 3 hours to run a marathon going 15 mph it him one hour less going three fourths as fast how far did he run all together
@jim_thompson5910 can you please help me with this word problem?
So it took him 2 hours.
how would i set it up as a rational equation
Is this one race?
both races together
Well distance over time = speed
so speed/time = distance
Sorry, speedxtime=distance
so 15x3=45
+(2x3/4 of 15)
2 is the time in the second run and the speed is 3/4 of 15 so 45/4 x 2
So 45 + 45/2 so 90/2 +45/2 so 135/2
miles.
The answer is 135/2
um i didnt want the answer i wanted to know if i did it right
But you didn't say what you said
