anyone using an alternative to idle as a text editor for python? i was going to try netbeans, but noticed they no longer support python.
I've been using XCode's editor on OSX. On Windows, Notepad works fine. vi is still a favorite. Many people like emacs. If you have Adobe Creative Suite on your machine, the ExtendScript editor supports Python. Note these are text editors, not IDEs.
I started using pyscripter. I have visual studio, but I think it only has IronPython, which is for net. I might take a look at that later, though, because net seems useful and marketable.
pyscripter is the best python IDE I have used. If you just want to edit python code, then any text editor will do. It depends on preference.
i use sublime text as a editor .
I enjoy gedit on ubuntu and notepad++ on windows for mac can't beat bbedit
+1 for pyscripter.
ok visual studio now supports Cpython
