What is the slope of a line that is perpendicular to the line whose equation is 2y = 3x - 1?

geerky42 (geerky42):

Slope of a line that is perpendicular to the line whose equation is \(y = mx - b\) is \(-\dfrac{1}{m}\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well first you want to make it into slope intercept form:|dw:1356569291419:dw| Next, you need tofind the slope, which is right there, 3/2. A perpendicular line has the opposite- reciprocal slope. So, the opposite of 3/2 is -3/2, and the reciprocal of that is -2/3. Just flip it and add a negative sign Any questions?
