If A = {positive integers} and B = {…,−4, −3, −2, −1} what is A ∩ B?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

empty set

hartnn (hartnn):

∩ means elements which are "common" to those sets.

hartnn (hartnn):

which elements are common to A and B ?

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

∩ is called the intersection. Think of it as the center of a venn diagram.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the options they give me are... { } {…, −3, −2, −1, 1, 2, 3, …} {1, 2, 3, 4, …} {…−3, −2, −1}

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

Look at what hartnn and I have said. What do you think the answer is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@aminita first one is true....since there is nothing common between these two sets you see

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes that is the answer choice i picked but it said it was wrong...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there are no common integers that will fit within bity of these sets that is why i picked it but my teacher marked it wrong :/

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

take a screenshot of the problem and contact your teacher.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah your teacher is just violating the very basic concept of sets

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you all for your help peeps!;)

welcom kid
