3p^2+7p−6 factoring

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is a nice question. multiply the coefficient of p^2 with -6 and you have -18. find two numbers which sum up to +7 and produce -18: ans: +9 and -2 so factorization is (x-9)(x+2). since you took that 3 from the coefficient, try to extract a three from one of the nonvariable terms and multiply it by the variable of the adjacent parentheses. Therefore, you have: (x-(3x3))(x+2)=(x-3)(3x+2) Voila! That's your factorization!
