Find the intercepts of y=x^4+1/ 2x^5

Parth (parthkohli):

Which intercept? \(x\) or \(y\)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Both

OpenStudy (hba):

@AJQ I guess i explained you before my friend :) For x-intercept y=0 For y-intercept x=0

Parth (parthkohli):

To calculate the \(y\)-intercept, just plug in \(x =0\) and solve for \(y\). For the \(x\)-intercept, just plug in \(y=0\) and solve for \(x\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the X- intercept I did 0=x^4+1/2x^5 x^4+1 = 0 x=1; x=-1

I'm following the example in the book, but I don't understand.
