3.Some crimes, usually those that are more serious like murder, carry minimum sentences. This means that anyone convicted of the crime under any circumstances must be given at least the minimum sentence for that crime. Do you think this is fair? Why or why not?
Quite a ethical problem don't you think? It is quite a personal question in fact depending on how much you value life, and in some cases some lifes over others.
Lets take a good example: Negligent murder. Lets say fx, man come driving in his car and he is driving a bit to fast and becuase of that he runs over another person walking, who gets killed.. Should this be a reason to serve minimum sentences? What do you think?
With that situation you can then say to your self: can it be true that a person who did not wanted run over another person and by acedent killed another person, should serve the same sentence as a person who chooses to kill his last girlfriend becuase he was angry? Another thing could be this: Should a person, who have a bugglar in his home serve time in jail because he shoots the buglar in self-defense (lets say in the shoulder and it is non-leathal), however on his way out he die from the bleeding. Should the guy who shot have the same sentence as one who choose to kill his wife becuase he found out she was unfaithful to him?
