how do you find the normal of a line?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sqrt((y2-y1)^2+(x2-x1)^2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

were did you get the two from? i have f(2)=3, f'(2)=5, i have to find the tangent and normal line, for the tangent i got y-3=5(x-2), but i have no idea how to find the normal line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh you mean the normal line, that's different from the normal of a line...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

slope of normal line = -1/slope of tangent line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it just be y-3=-1/5(x-2)?
