y varies directly as x and y ?
OpenStudy (96mertcank96):
yes
OpenStudy (anonymous):
not sure what that means? i know y can vary directly with x, but what does it mean "y varies directly with x and y" ?
that would mean y = kxy
OpenStudy (96mertcank96):
oh no do the normal equation
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh ok if y varies directly with x then
\[y = kx\]
let x = 16
let y = 48
solve for k

OpenStudy (96mertcank96):
is it 48=k16?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
right, that is how you will solve for k. what answer do you get for k ?
OpenStudy (96mertcank96):
3
but in the question it doesnt ask for k and i did write 48=k16 and got it wrong
OpenStudy (anonymous):
well we didn't answer the question yet. we can't answer the question without knowing what k is
since we solve for k = 3 then we know
y = kx
y = 3x
OpenStudy (96mertcank96):
now i see the problem... thank you!
