what is 8 (mod 6) (think remainder)
then take 8 times that
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I am so so lost.... Is mod 6 remainder of 8
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
8 (mod 6) = remainder after you divide 8/6
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
8/6 = 1 remainder ____
what goes in the blank?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes
for example 10 (mod 2) = 0, 10 (mod 5) = 0 but 10 (mod 3) = 1

I thank you all for helping me, I really just don't get it.
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
take 8 cookies and divide it up amongst 6 people
how many cookies does each person get?
how many cookies are left over after they are equally divided up?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
basically do you remember when you did long division and you had a remainder? well that remainder is what the mod function returns
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
oh and you can only give out whole cookies (you can't break up any cookies)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So it would be 2?
