An easy way is to do it by intercepts. Calculate the points where the line crosses the x- and y-axes. Then plot those points and draw a line through them. This is easier than it sounds. Any point on the x-axis has ordered pair (x, 0). The y-coordinate is zero. Any point on the y-axis, has ordered pair (0, y). The x-coordinate is zero. To get the x-intercept, let y = 0, and solve for x: x + 5y = -20 x + 5(0) = -20 x = -20 Ordered pair (-20, 0) To get the y-intercept, let x = 0 and solve for y: x + 5y = -20 0 + 5y = -20 5y = -20 y = -4 Ordered pair (0, -4) Now plot those two points, draw a line thourgh them and extend it. There's your graph.
