Give examples of the three persuasive techniques from either Antony’s or Brutus’s speech. (3 sentences)Logos, Pathos, Ethos.
Which speech?
The play about Julius Caesar by Shakespeare’s Anthony has a speech so does Brutus.@awesomeMe98
@AwesomeMe98
do you understand what pathos, logos, and ethos are?
Pathos= the emotional or motivational appeals; vivid language, emotional language and numerous sensory details. Logos= the logic used to support a claim (induction and deduction); can also be the facts and statistics used to help support the argument. Ethos =the source's credibility, the speaker's/author's authority
@Boblankin
Yeah, can you find that type of stuff in the speech? What are you having trouble with?
i dont get the speech :( can you like do the first one and i do the other ones?? like an example @Boblankin
could you give me the full title of the play? i know the author a little.
i took a class based off of Shakespeare. I think i should know a little about him and his plays.
Its Called Julius Caesar here is a link to the play if you want http://www.cliffsnotes.com/study_guide/literature/julius-caesar/play-summary.html @ Boblankin
@Boblankin
mkay which speeches are you looking at??
"You all did love him once, — not without cause: What cause withholds you, then, to mourn for him? —" Out of the three items, which do you think this is, and why?
Antony’s or Brutus’s speech does not matter who... and i think it is logos i am bad at this :P @Boblankin
why is it logos?
apply the definition of logos to those lines. How is he using logos to talk to the people? Why is he saying it? What does Antony assume?
i dont know i dont get the play at all its hard to undrstand!!!!! @Boblankin just forget it
what is confusing?
try rereading the original text, it may help produce something...
You all did love him once, — not without cause: What cause withholds you, then, to mourn for him? —" This is appealing to Pathos. Anthony is trying to make the commoners remember how much they once loved and admired Caesar for a reason, why shouldn't they mourn his death? He is appealing to the commoners' love for Caesar, telling them that they should stop to rethink the reason why the admired Caesar, and to hold on to that reason, and continue to love him, mourn his death. I hope this helps :) I've done the book before so Im happy to help
