OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the 32nd term of the arithmetic sequence where a1 = -34 and a9 = -122?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you help me w/this?

OpenStudy (nottim):

im confused myself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:(

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

1) Change your Screen Name. 2) Never think, say, or wrote that again. Get rid of it. 3) a1 = -34 and a9 = -122? a1 = -34 a2 = -34 + d a3 = -34 + 2d ... a9 = -34 + 8d = -122 You can now solve for 'd'. The 32nd term easliy follows: a32 = -34 + 31d = ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whaaaat, why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So am i supposed to get rid of the a and d? I dont really know how to do these.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

1) Why change your screen name? It discourages you. 2) Why think something else? So you can be encouraged. 3) "arithmetic sequence" Each successive term differs from the previous term by the same amount, d. There is no "get rid of". a9 = -34 + 8d = -122 You can now solve for 'd' You have "-34 + 8d = -122". Now solve for 'd'.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. Well i am bad at algebra, no use in denying it.. 2. Im on here cause im encouraged to get help. :D 3. d is -11

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

1) Hogwash. 2) Change your screen name and prove that you are encouraged. 3) Not quite. Please show your steps and we can see where you wandered off.
