What's the difference between methylation and transesterification?

OpenStudy (frostbite):

A methylation is just a alkylation with methane, and don't have to form a ester in the end as a transesterification would do. Say we like to make toluene from benzene, then we just do a fridel-crafts alkylation which is a alkylation but also a methylation.

Thank you @Frostbite
