Help? a+8-2(a-12)>0
Can you help me with a+8-2(a-12)>0 ? I've done: a+8-2(a-12)>0 a+8-2a+24>0 -a+32>0 -32 -32 -a>-32
a+8-2a+24>0 -3a+32>0 -32 -32 -3a>-32
But thats not one of my answer choices. ): I have: A. a<32 B. a>-16 C. a<-16 D. a>32 B. Is NOT the answer either, because thats what I put and its wrong so Im doing an Error Analysis. Fun. /:
Ok hold on, im working on it
Ok. Thanks.
I personally think its, A. or D.
Ok, up to the -a>-32, you did it perfectly. Now, you need to divide both sides by -1, ans remember to flip the sign becuse you flip it when dividing of multiplying by a negative number. so now you have a<32
because*
a + 8 - 2(a - 12) > 0 a + 8 - 2a + 24 > 0 -a + 32>0 -a + 32 - 32 > 0 - 32 -a > -32 ---> (-1)-a > (-1) - 32 a < 32 (multiplying by a negative changes the sign) The reason you want to multiply by a -1 is to make the " a " positive. But what you do to one side of the inequality, you have to do to the other side. And when you multiply by a negative, it changes the sign. Your answer is A :)
Thanks @texaschic101 @Butterfly16 @zaynahf ! (:
