Following an example and one step goes from (1 + 2x)/(1-x) to equalling -2 + 3/(1-x), how do they equal each other? i know it cant be partial fractions :s

OpenStudy (tyteen4a03):

Hint: turn -2 into a fraction with the denominator as (1-x).

Cheers :)

what is the methodology of that step? It's part of an integration question and i realise its to make it easy to integrate but how would i go about doing that for a similar equation?

OpenStudy (tyteen4a03):

Integration...? I didn't study Calculus myself so I can't answer that question.

It's cool, a bit of trial and error and i've found out how haha

OpenStudy (amoodarya):

if you know lim care about that lim(x to infinity) (1 + 2x)/(1-x)=-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Great explanation, thank you :)
