Rewrite the expression using rational exponents. Sq. Root(x^4 + y^2)

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

That's not supposed to be \[\sqrt{x^4}+\sqrt{y^2}\] is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no the original equation has them both under one radical.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thought the answer would be x^2 + y but I was wrong.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

In that case, without further information about x and y, I think the best you can do is\[(x^4+y^2)^{1/2}\]

That's it thank you very much!
