Solve the following system and show all of your work. 3y − 2x = 11 y + 2x = 9 ... Does anyone know how to do this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can add up the two equations in a column

\[\Huge \text{WELCOME TO OPENSTUDY !}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[3y-2x=11\]\[y+2x=9\] add in a column, get \[4y=20\] then solve for \(y\) in your head, get \(y=5\)

OpenStudy (aravindg):

ADD the two equations to get equation in y

OpenStudy (aravindg):

then solve for y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And after do we plug that in into the variables

OpenStudy (aravindg):

yep to get x!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, so we use y = 5 to find x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, you can replace \(y\) by \(5\) in either equation and solve for \(x\)

OpenStudy (aravindg):

right @thisisarri !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you want to check your answer, replace \(y\) by \(5\) in both equations, and see that you get the same number for \(x\). then you will know it is right

Thanks so much guys! Your awesome!
