What is the algebraic expression for the following word phrase: the product of 5 more than p and 7?

OpenStudy (blurbendy):

They're trying to be sneaky, but the key is to notice the "more than". This means you will be adding the product of.....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

of five??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or seven

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

5 more than p = p+5 the other part of the product is 7 (a produce is 2 entities multipiled together - eg product of x and 5 is 5x)

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

- thats my interpretation of what youve written

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so p+5+7 would be the answer?

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

its a little ambiguous

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, it is -.- erm :/ but thanks though :)

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

no - its p+5 times 7 - you put the p + 7 in parentheses because you are multiplying 'all of it:- = 7(p + 5)

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

* the p+5 in parentheses

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay i see now, Thankyou like alot :D

OpenStudy (cwrw238):
