Yes. We don't use a semicolon like in c unless it is to connect two sentences without a conjunction. Would it make sense to write: While his dad put the jack under the car. Trey looked for the tire iron in the trunk. ? If not, we should use a comma, not a semicolon.

Here is an example where a semicolon would be appropriate: I will put the jack under the car; you look for the tire iron in the trunk.
