Why are celestial objects round?
Well celestial objects are formed by a long process.. but in a nut shell.. all the gases and pulled close to each other because of gravity.. due to this.. you always get a spherical shape
just like how liquid drops are spherical due to surface tension!
without going into atomic structure ..simply a sperical shape is the most efficient , natural shape it could take ( without being ripped apart from other celestial bodies )...example : if a celestial bodie was to be shape like a cube ( it would'nt be for long ) the tensor strain on the corners ( from friction moving in space , along with gravitational forces from other bodies would reduce the cube to a sphere ...if you a more defined explanation i suggest you studdy attomic struture , gravitational , electro magnetic forces,
Hydrostatic stability.
due to surface tension of the object when it is formed..
I am not convinced yet, sorry Gentlemen
How about solid planets like the Earth?
Planet are only solid at our scale, living on its ground. Hydrostatic laws apply to these 'solid' bodies, considered as viscous fluids. Remember what happens to rocks when they undergo subduction and metamorphism. Remember that Earth is actually an ellipsoid because it is rotating etc.
