how do graphs of y=1/x and y=5/(x+6) compare? I know the second graph shifts to left by 6 units but does it move down and how many units?
The second equation gets shifted to the left 6 units and then stretched 5 units. Looks like this. You can see the second equation centered at (-6, 0) while the first one is centered at (0, 0). You correctly identified that it gets shifted to the left by 6, but it does not move either up or down at all. That's why the center for its graph has a "y" value of "0" while the "x" value is "-6".
All good now @berrypicking ?
just looked at your graphs. What does gets stretched 5 units mean?
It means that it gets 5 times wider. It is stretched horizontally. It gets "fat" looking.
got it thanks
Good luck to you in all of your studies and thx for the recognition! @berrypicking
