Hannibal brought his army through the alps and invaded Italy. Why did he do it?

Basically, Hannibal's brother-in-law was the commander of the Carthaginian army. They had a deal that Rome would not expand south of the Ebro river as long as Cathage would not expand north of it. Hannibal's brother-in-law was killed by a Celtic assassin and Hannibal became commander-in-chief of the army. Within two years, Hannibal completed the conquest in Spain south of the Ebro river. Rome, fearing the rising power of Carthage, made an alliance with Saguntum, a city south of the Ebro river. Hannibal considered the Romans to have broken the treaty and in 219BC laid siege on Saguntum, which fell after eight months. The Sevond Punic War had begun!
