it is a the portion that you are not performing!!

the part that dosen't have a varaible in it. it's the part that stays the same. for example, if you were testing if a brown cat and a white cat will get the same nutrients from milk the milk would be the control because it's not changing, the cats would be the variable that's changing.

The control in an experiment has a known outcome when you apply a test to it.  Typically, there is a positive and negative control.  Positive controls in the test will always be positive if you have run the experiment properly and negative controls will be negative.  if either of the controls have the opposite outcome, you know there is a problem with the mechanics of the experiment and you cannot trust the answer.
