Please help 2 questions? :-) Add and simplify: The quantity x plus 3, all over x squared, end quantity, plus the quantity 2 over 3 x, end quantity.
Subtract and simplify: The quantity x squared over the binomial x plus 3, end quantity, minus the quantity 9 over the binomial x plus 3, end quantity.
is this your first question? (x+3)/(x^2) + 2/(3x)
Yeah! :)
\[(x+3)/x^2+2/(3x)\]
ok so first in order to add the two quantities together, you need to make the denominator the same! so in this case the denominator should be 3x^3 becuase that is the common denominator. so you would get 3x(x+3) / 3x^3 plus 2x^2 /3x^3. do you understand how to get that?
Yes, thanks so much!
for your second question, notice how the denominator is already the same. so you can rewrite it as ( x^2 - 9)/ (x+3). the numerator can be factored to equal (x+3)(x-3) then you can cancel the x+3 portion out and there's your answer! :)
Thank you so much! :D
